If you have insurance through your job or by individual policy, you are often presented with the choice between two options:

Option 1 is lower in cost but you have to hit a high deductible before any coverage kicks in.

Option 2 is most likely hundreds of dollars more a month, but requires little or no co-pays and coverage is immediate.

With Ardane Medical, or any DPC, you can choose Option 1, utilizing us for your all-inclusive basic health care needs.  This saves you money every month and your insurance becomes more like a catastrophic policy, should a major issue arise.

The Direct Primary Care (DPC) model delivers comprehensive primary health care directly from your DPC provider. The patient pays for their care through a monthly fee similar to a gym membership.

Because DPC practices do not participate in any insurance or plans, the provider is able to avoid the ever-increasing and costly documentation demands and administrative intrusions that come with accepting insurance.  DPC practices also avoid the onerous patient data collection responsibilities which many plans impose. These require staff, time, and money — often amounting to substantial intrusions on patient privacy.

Because DPC physicians avoid these obligations to insurance companies, they are free to spend that time listening to and treating patients. And because DPC physicians eliminate the significant overhead costs of participating in insurance, they can pass the savings on to you, the patient – and give compassionate, attentive and timely care at an affordable cost.

When you join, there is a $75 full comprehensive physical evaluation.  That fee and the first month’s membership fee are due at that time.

  • Anyone over 18 years old.
  • Patients that are looking for a closer relationship with their provider.
  • Small business owners that can’t afford to offer their employees full health care benefits can now offer primary care coverage at a low cost. This helps employees stay healthy and the employer retain staff.
  • Anyone that would like to stay away from the conventional, broken, health care system where the patient and the provider are just numbers.

You can cancel your membership at any time.

With DPC, there is no contract or long-term commitments.  Membership can be discontinued at any time by either party.  Membership will conclude at the end of the current month.

If you choose to rejoin, fees will be applied.

Approximately 30-minute appointment with our staff.

Yes! Dr. Sandra is able to see members who are home bound and in nursing homes. Different fees may apply on a case-by-case basis.

Dr Sandra is a Board-Certified Internal Medicine physician. Her expertise is included with your membership.  Your membership with Ardane Medical does not cover any other specialists.

After presented with any patient condition, it is solely at Dr Sandra’s discretion as to whether it will be treated at our office, or referred to a specialist.  For instance, if a patient comes in with a skin abnormality, Dr Sandra may decide to treat and/or decide that it is in the patient’s best interest to seek the experience and skill of a dermatologist.

Chronic pain and anxiety are serious medical problems that require specialized training to properly dose, monitor and manage pain and/or anxiety treatment.

Also, government agencies are requiring more regulations for physicians who prescribe anxiety and/or pain medications. For these reasons, Ardane Medical DOES NOT prescribe, or manage, long term pain or anxiety medications.  There are specialists in our community that manage these serious conditions.

Our providers will help coordinate care in the hospital, but patients will be cared for by a hospitalist – doctors who only see patients in the hospital.

Our staff is open and available to consult with any hospitalist that seeks our assistance. Dr. Sandra will resume care as the patient transitions out of the hospital.

No. Patient privacy is a natural benefit of this medical model. We will never provide any third party with a copy of your records, unless you specifically ask us to do so, or if Ardane Medical is subject to a court subpoena or warrant.

In the age of telemedicine, many conditions can be diagnosed and treated via a simple conversation by phone or video call. If appropriate, we will locate the nearest pharmacy and order medication most suited for your circumstance. If you need to go to the hospital or seek other medical attention while away from home, we can advise you on that as well.

Yes, on an emergency basis.

We recommend that you do have insurance to comply with Federal Law.  Ardane Medical does not replace insurance, and ideally, we encourage our patients to carry a high deductible or major medical plan or a plan with a health savings account, thereby ensuring financial help should hospitalization or referral to a specialist be necessary. You should consult with your insurance provider to help you find a plan that works best with our medical model and that will meet your specific needs.

Not for our services, but Ardane Medical will be able to order your labs, x-rays and medications at the facilities preferred by your insurance if you would like.  For instance, if you need a blood test, you can use our in-house (at cost) lab or we can order it to an outside lab with co-pays.  You can determine which is cheaper for you.

Ardane Medical, or any DPC facility’s fees are not able to be submitted to insurance for reimbursement.

Yes. However, your monthly membership fee cannot be submitted to Medicare for reimbursement. You must sign a waiver every two years that declares that neither you nor your doctor will directly bill Medicare for your membership fee.

Medicare and Medicare supplemental insurance will still cover medical costs that you incur outside of Ardane Medical. For example, prescriptions that you fill at an outside pharmacy, or labs run at an outside lab, or hospital charges, physical therapy, x-rays and scans are covered, just to name a few. You do not lose your Medicare coverage for other medical needs just because you are a patient of Ardane Medical.

We recommend discussing this with your financial advisor and CPA as this is a very complex and ever-changing issue.
